When I was a senior in high school, I competed in forensics with a selection from his one-man show "The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me." This was the piece that first made me want to be a solo performer, and has been the main driving force behind "VGL 5'4" Top" and "Fame Whore." It's both hysterical and heavy, covering every element that made up gay culture in the 80s and early 90s: coming out, pop music, the gym, cruising, the AIDS epidemic, etc.
While my days as a stage door whore are, for the most part, finito, I absolutely could not leave without meeting David Drake face to face. I didn't get to gush as thoroughly as my id would have liked me to, but I did have a fangirl moment where I whipped out my copy of "Larry Kramer" and begged for requested an autograph.
This might be my new most prized possession.
Unfortunately, I was not able to see Tawny until her closing night, and there are no future bookings currently scheduled. But if I were you, I'd keep my eyes and ears peeled, because there's no telling when Tawny Heatherton will be coming to a town near you!
