2012 brings me yet another curious Halloween. I've always held Halloween to be one of my favorite holidays, but every year, no matter how tightly I try to hold on, it still feels more distant. I blame adulthood.
The bad news is, this year I don't even HAVE a costume. There are dozens of ideas I've had spinning around in my head for the last few months (some, even years) that I wish I had the time and money to execute. But unfortunately, now is not the time.
The good news is that instead of dressing up this October 31st, I will be UNdressing, which is just as good, right? On Wednesday night, I will be joining my original boylesque brothers Matt Knife, Teddy Turnaround, and Rique Shaw for Dandy Darkly's Variety of the Damned at Dixon Place! It's not every day that you get the complete set, so if you don't have plans for Halloween, you should definitely check us out!
Along with the Homo Erectus gang, you can also find the multiple-musical-personalities of Amber Martin, comedian songwriter Ben Lerman, ventriloquist Carla Rhodes with the dapper dummy Cecil Sinclair, vaudevillian musicians Fein and Dandee with the brassy Jenny Lee Mitchell, the delightfully chaotic Empress Olga and Backdoor Bjorn, contortionist Amazing Amy, handsome storyteller Rod Sayegh, hula-hooping hottie Randy Bush, and of course, sissy sorcerer of sex and death, Dandy Darkly and his ever-suffering valet and pianist, Hookah (Adam Tendler).
Are you afraid? You should be...
