Another day without a real post. Sorry, folks, but I've got a lot of work on my plate that occupying my brain cells. The good news is, many of you will have the opportunity to see the fruits of all this labor on stage! For example, my new one-man show "Fame Whore", coming up in two weeks!
From the vertically-challenged creator of VGL 5'4" Top comes a sparkling and chic new one-man show that's ready to push a few more gay buttons. After being denied a Glammy Award nomination and living in the shadows of all the other gay bloggers, Lucas Brooks (author of ToptoBottomNYC.com) is fed up with being unknown among the gay community that he struggles so hard to please. "Fame Whore" chronicles his battle with his Kathy Griffin complex, his quest for social acceptance, and his search for someone who will finally take him to Fire Island.
Really, though...it's actually a commentary on the common gay man's obsession with glamour and celebrity, and our culture's glorification of idiots and neglect for talent.
Seriously. It is.
This performance is being presented as part of the HOT Festival at Dixon Place. A $5 donation is being suggested at the door to support this poor artist. Drinking is not required, but HIGHLY encouraged.
The Dixon Place Lounge is open before, during, and after the show. Proceeds directly support Dixon Place’s artists and mission.
